Many concerned parents assume that babies and toddlers need to be placed on especially soft bedding. However, this assumption is based on the misconception that the mattress for the youngest people should follow the simple formula of "lightweight equals soft sleeping surface."

From an orthopedic perspective, the opposite is true. A baby still has a very soft and malleable bone structure. Therefore, the mattress should provide optimal support to the child’s spine with its firmness and only light cushioning. Nature provides us with an excellent material for this purpose: coconut fiber. Coconut is firm and, when latex-coated, only slightly springy. Its firmness makes an unevenly structured edge support unnecessary.

In addition to providing firm support that helps prevent early spinal deformities, the coconut layer in the Aman Mini natural mattress is highly breathable for a baby or toddler. This is especially important when, after a few months, the baby starts to roll independently into the prone (belly-down) position, which many babies prefer. This breathability is perhaps the most important feature of a toddler mattress.

Wool on the surface absorbs moisture excellently, ensuring a dry sleeping environment. The baby’s body, which has little capacity for heat retention, is kept comfortably warm in both summer and winter without causing overheating.

Since a baby has a very high need for sleep, it’s crucial that the mattress is rigorously tested for harmful substances.
