Sofa bed or bed settee – what matters
A good sofa bed needs a continuous sleeping surface without a ridge, a stable frame and upholstery that works as a mattress. Innovation Living relies on steel frames with a five-year guarantee, pocket-spring upholstery and removable covers in OEKO-TEX-certified fabrics; the backrests adjust to several positions for sitting, lounging and sleeping. Sleeping surfaces range from 115 × 210 cm (Splitback) to 155 × 200 cm (Bifrost), and the sleeping chair Cubed 90 is the compact solution for a guest room.
Cover, colour and futon to your choice
You choose the cover from the current Innovation fabric range; on the futon sofa beds you also choose between the firmer hemp latex sandwich and the softer Comfort version with more natural latex. You can sit and lie on them at our bed store in Berlin-Charlottenburg; within Berlin our team delivers into your flat. If you want to improve an existing sofa, our natural latex toppers are a solution.

Is a sofa bed suitable for sleeping on every night?
Yes, if the frame and the sleeping surface are built for it. The Innovation Living sofa beds are made for daily use as a main bed: a steel frame with a five-year guarantee, pocket-spring upholstery and removable covers. Our futon sofa beds carry a hemp latex futon from our own workshop, constructed like a natural mattress.
What kind of mattress does a futon sofa bed have?
The sleeping surface is a futon from our workshop with 100 % natural latex, a hemp fibre core and futon-quilted cotton, tested for harmful substances by the eco-INSTITUT. The hemp latex sandwich lies firmer and more supportive; the Comfort version contains considerably more natural latex and lets you sink in further – good for side sleepers. You can try both in the store.
How large is the sleeping surface of a sofa bed?
That depends on the model: the Splitback offers 115 × 210 cm, the futon sofa bed Aslak 140 × 200 cm, and the three-seater Bifrost 155 × 200 cm. Each product page lists the exact sleeping surface, width, depth and seat height. For a guest room with little space, the Cubed 90 sleeping chair is an alternative.
Can I choose the cover and colour myself?
Yes. You choose the cover from the current Innovation Living fabric range – on the Aslak futon sofa bed, for example, from 43 colours. Fabrics from the stock range are available at short notice, fabrics from the order range take a little longer at the same price. The covers are removable and made from OEKO-TEX-certified fabrics.
Sofa bed Splitback Styletto
The Splitback sofa bed by Innovation Living combines an industrial look with Danish design. In the Styletto version it stands on slim, tapered wooden legs that you can choose in light, dark or black wood. The pocket spring upholstery supports you when sitting and lying, and the backrest adjusts to three positions: upright for sitting, reclined for relaxing, flat for sleeping. The difference in the futon Both futons come from our own workshop and share the same natural sandwich construction: 100 % natural latex (point-elastic, firmness H2 / 75 kg/m³), a central hemp fibre core for support, plus futon-quilted cotton for a pleasant sleeping climate – tested for harmful substances by the Eco-Umweltinstitut. The difference lies in the ratio of latex to coconut: Hemp latex sandwichThe firmer futon: a slimmer latex layer and more coconut instead – firmer and more supportive. Perfect for back and front sleepers, but also suitable for side sleepers. Hemp latex sandwich ComfortNoticeably more natural latex – softer as a result, you sink in more deeply.
