Eco-certified cotton futon 6/0 - the classic Japanese sleeping surface
A classic futon is a simple natural mattress made exclusively of cotton, layered one layer on top of another. To stop these cotton layers shifting, they are quilted through using a knotting technique. This quilting gives a futon its unmistakable appearance.
The cotton futon as a guest mattress or for relaxed daily rest
Cotton is obtained from the long fibres in the seed capsules of the cotton plant. The fibres of this shrub store body heat, are breathable and unrivalled in their kindness to the skin. Our classic Japanese sleeping surface consists of 6 layers of pure cotton at 500 g/m2 each and is traditionally placed on a tatami or on the floor. It is characterised by extremely firm padding and lying properties without the elasticity of conventional mattresses. When new, the cotton futon is gentle and cotton-wool-like; the fibre material compresses very quickly and steadily becomes firmer. Rolling it up, shaking it out and turning it daily counteracts the natural loss of volume to a certain extent and provides the necessary ventilation.
Special sizes and dimensions are of course no problem!
On request we can of course make this affordable natural mattress in the thickness and size you want. Naturally all the ingredients are tested and meet the strict criteria of the eco environmental institute for ecological product testing.
