Tatami are mats made of pressed rice straw. In Japan they form the floor of traditionally furnished rooms; at night the futon is spread out on them. The Tatami Standard is 4.5 cm high and serves as a firm, level base for futons and natural mattresses – on the floor as well as in a futon bed or on a platform. What is the tatami suitable for? As a base for our cotton futon or a hemp-latex futon directly on the floor For natural mattresses that work on a firm base without suspension As a low, Japanese-style sleeping place or as a guest bed Dimensions and versions Height 4.5 cm Widths 70, 80, 90 and 100 cm at 200 cm length; two mats side by side make a double bed Special sizes and extra lengths are made on request The tatami comes from Bale, a Berlin manufacturer. Like all products in our range, you can see and try the tatami in our store at Kantstraße 13 in Berlin-Charlottenburg. We are happy to advise you which combination of tatami, futon or natural mattress suits your sleeping habits – by phone or in person.
