Product information The coconut futon 6/0 - the affordable sofa bed mattress, or for relaxing every day A classic futon is a simple natural mattress made exclusively of cotton, layered one layer on top of another. To stop these cotton layers shifting, they are quilted through using a knotting technique. This quilting gives a futon its unmistakable appearance. The coconut futon additionally has a 3 cm thick layer of latexed coconut fibre, which stabilises the futon and makes it usable on slatted frames or on a sofa bed too. Untreated cotton and latexed coconut Cotton is obtained from the long fibres in the seed capsules of the cotton plant. The fibres of this shrub store body heat, are breathable and unrivalled in their kindness to the skin. Our coconut futon 6/0 consists of 6 layers of pure cotton at 600 g/m2 each and can be placed on a tatami, a sofa bed or a slatted frame. It is characterised by extremely firm padding and lying properties without the elasticity of conventional mattresses. When new, the cotton is gentle and cotton-wool-like; the fibre material compresses very quickly and steadily becomes firmer. With the coconut futon there is no need to roll it up daily, as the necessary ventilation is provided by the slightly springy, very well ventilated coconut fibre. To distribute the loads to which the coconut futon is exposed as evenly as possible, the mattress should be turned and flipped frequently. The natural mattress Aman - our firmest natural mattress in futon style. The natural mattress Aman is made exclusively of coconut fibre latexed with natural rubber and new wool. This very firm sleeping surface is only suitable for sleepers who want just a very slight cushioning without any further elasticity in their mattress. It is an alternative to a cotton futon and can be placed on any base. The extremely good ventilation of the natural fibre means it no longer needs to be rolled up. The natural mattress Aman Plus Comfort in futon style is a further development of our Aman range, designed especially for unfavourable bases that need a great deal of cross-ventilation. Thanks to the higher, 6 cm thick layer of natural rubber on the surface, this asymmetrical natural mattress offers even greater comfort than our Aman Plus. Its adaptability is 50% higher, so side sleepers in particular benefit from greater comfort and more pressure relief in the shoulder and hip area. The natural latex here is gentle and point-elastic, while the coconut layer beneath provides the necessary hold and allows back sleepers in particular to stretch the spine well.
